Full throttle racer
Ward Burton made the NASCAR Cup series in 1994, and today is considered one of the all-time best in NASCAR, with five Nextel Cup racing wins under his belt, including the coveted 2002 44th Daytona 500 Champion title. In his racing career, Ward has secured 24 Top 5 finishes and 85 Top 10 finishes out of the 356 races that he competed in throughout NASCAR's top series.

The Burton name is synonymous with stock car racing. Both Ward and his brother, Jeff, grew up racing each other at their hometown track in South Boston, Virginia. Both have had illustrious careers in the top series of NASCAR.

Despite the success and the demands that a career in NASCAR's top series can being though, Burton has always had time for his fans, and that's why he remains just as popular today.

Ward still resides in his native South Boston with his wife and three children. These days Ward spends much of his time back at his hometown speedway in South Boston, where his son, Jeb, 16, has just debuted in stock car races there. Jeb is a natural talent behind the wheel and is expected to move quickly through the ranks to follow his father's footsteps into the elite circle of NASCAR's best drivers.
